Facing Fears

It didn't take too long to finally re-view the final of series 3 of Celebrity which saw it's first (and in my opinion only deserving) Queen of the Jungle,
Kerry McFadden.

This was in spite of her refusing to undergo her final Bushtucker Trial which involved her sitting underneath a tank where a load of cockroaches would be dropped on her.
The trauma was too much for Kerry to take and she became the first celebrity on the show to not want to undertake the trial, but Jennie and Peter were more than supportive and understanding.

Kerry hadn't had a good run on the trials with her first being the infamous "Jungle Houdini" which involved escaping from a water tank which was filling up.

I'd say the trial was infamous as it was one of the first in the series to use "the deadly weapon" in order to warn Kerry that the tank was filling up.

I'm sure you know what I'm referring to when mentioning Joe Swash in the last series who in the first trial with Simon Webbe found it more petrifying that dealing with the snakes and bugs that awaited him.

Everyone seemed to find it hilarious but with similar instances and flashbacks being partly responsible for what happened to me two years ago, I thought "you don't fucking laugh at that".

Anyway, Peter Andre was next to take on the same trial as Kerry but with added spiders and whilst he completed it he was really nervous and full of fear.

Jennie Bond's trial on the other hand was the legendary Bushtucker Bonanza although it was pretty lightweight compared to future series as there were no genetalia on offer this series, with the worst item in order to win the game being two fish eyes.

The final three were rewarded with a meal of sausage and mash with peas and gravy which didn't look that nice in all honesty but Kerry and Peter were very appreciative.

Jennie on the other hand was rather disapointed as she was hoping for a meal of grilled fish with vegtables which I would personally prefer any time over sausage and mash but managed to soldier on.

I liked it nearer the end when Kerry and Peter started singing an impromptu rendition of "Mysterious Girl" prompting Jennie to ask if Peter sang low notes as well as high, as she revealed she was a fan of the Darkness, as well as Eminem.

In third place was Peter Andre who was surprised at the attention he had recieved for the song "Insania" which he apparently wrote in the jungle but was later revealed that he had actually written it five years earlier.

Ant & Dec gave their own rendition during the interview with Peter, to which Pete responded by singing "#Let's get ready to rhumble!".

Kerry became queen of the jungle in a close run between Jennie and there was a surprise appearance by her now ex-husband Bryan or Brian as he now prefers to be known.

Although Jennie was just as worthy a winner, I thought Kerry very much deserved her crown as at the time she was really likeable and a lot less annoying than the emotional wreck she has now become.

All the contestants in the series reunited apart from John Lydon, although there was an appearance from Lord Brocket who after being booted out the previous day got into big trouble when he tried to lift one of the goldfish into his wine glass only for Ant & Dec to hastily force him to put it back into the bowl.

I reckon that caused more fuss than Johnny Rotten's outburst as people were genuinley upset at what Charlie actually did.

Overall it was a good end to the series although at the very end a static caption revealed it was dedicated to the late Sasha Jeffrey, an LWT researcher and series editor for the show who died aged just 35 in November 2003 shortly after negotiating deals with the contestants for the series.

Probably more trawling will be taking place tomorrow and I wouldn't be surprised if the Geordie boys make an appearance at some point.

Good Night.
