So the line up for this year's Student Radio Conference has been announced and it's quite an interesting one nonetheless despite the fact I'm not actually going to be there.
Although I don't really know that many people from our Uni who are going,
due to it taking place in the Easter break and if anyone is able to pay enough money for it.
Anyway, the selling point being a speech from Radio 1's Head of Programmes Ben Cooper, the man formerly known as "Producer Ben" on Chris Moyles' early breakfast show all those years ago.
David Garrido from Newsbeat is also appearing as part of a session on radio journalism along with a journalist from BBC Radio Leeds which fits in quite well with the location of the conference this year.
However there's one that I'm really interested in and that's a talk on the otherwise questionable Future Of Commercial Radio.
This will be chaired by Global Radio head honcho Ashley Tabor (boooo) and the legend that is Simon Hirst from Galaxy 105.
I suppose there would be an advantage to going this year as after the talk itself I could just chat on end to Hirsty about old radio jingles in the usual manner.
I haven't seen him for a long while actually.
However if I did go I'd probably end up being left out amongst all the in jokes and butt kissing between most of the first years that normally takes place at such events.
Nowadays I get on pretty well with Potty, Alice etc but that's probably because some of the protagonists from the then second year have either left the station and in some cases left University overall.
I seem to remember Ross T at the 2007 conference getting a bit peeved after overhearing Phil Harris with either Sami or Sarah Smith in their bedroom saying "we'll do a better job next year" or along those lines.
Well, Phil was right to an extent in his role, although I thought he did just as well as Ross G when it came to events as I never had any problems with Goodlass at all.
I think Goodlass was the only one out of the station management who went with us drinking in Central when the third years handed in their dissertations and that fantastic night at Cheapskates where I got rather lathered and danced like an idiot to "Nightboat To Cairo".
Here's hoping we'll do something similar this time next month.
