I can't escape Uni life overall, so I had a listen to Jake and Spike and "The Apple Bites Back" on Smoke Radio and they probably have to be my favourite show from the second year radio lot due to them being straight, perfectly honest and talking about otherwise controversial issues.
One of the items involved fellow radio student Nick SD where he started ranting about Greenpeace following a lecture from one of their representatives who had come in to talk to the second years about their podcasts.
This then lead to talk on the recession and a very heated debate between Nick and Jake started to take place which sounded very serious as both had differing opinions. Jake was saying that the only way out of the recession as students would be to continue studying for a Masters Degree but Nick disagreed as he was thinking about persuing an interest in photography instead.
This brings to mind the fact that the late Tim Stewart was involved heavilly in photography shortly after leaving KMFM where he took it up full time under an alisa. Some of his work can be seen here.
Anyway back to the original argument, and I've been asked several times if I would consider taking a Masters degree, to which I have ruled out, not least for the end of this year.
This is because by the time I've finished my degree I would have spent 19 years in full time education and I feel it's an ideal time for a change.
It's know not really a good time in terms of employment and money but I'm sure I'll find something in the end.
However if I find myself reaching very stressful levels, then what I've been hinting about in the last few months may actually happen.
However I won't really need to worry about that until around late June.
Moving onwards, one of the other items in the show involved Spike playing one of the tunes from the soundtrack of the Playstation game "Parappa The Rapper" because last week I gave him a copy of it from my external hard drive during the 26 hour broadcast where we decided to browse each others MP3 collections.
Rather bizarrely I don't have the soundtrack to the follow up "Um Jammer Lammy".
On Twitter I am now following all three of the true Broom Cupboard stalwarts as Andy Crane has started tweeting. Now at Manchester's Channel M, it's good to see Andy along with Andi Peters and the one and only Schofe.
And on a similar note I've managed to find some vintage gungings from Get Your Own Back on Youtube including one with another ex CBBC presenter, Chris Jarvis.
This was from series 5 in 1995 which was the last series to use the original theme tune before it was replaced with the one that sounded similar to Slade's "We'll Bring The House Down".
It's also worth mentioning this clip where towards the end Dave appears in Studio A with Chris to explain that they didn't really set fire to toys, which was the punishment for losing contestants.
However after that show with the teddy bear being incinerated (which was called Robin for some reason) they edited out all the forfeit furnaces from the rest of the series and the repeats.
Five years later however, The Saturday Show ended up doing it for real in an attempt to make their show more "edgier" than it's predecessor Live And Kicking.
The soon to be departing Ant & Dec on SMTV proved that children would rather have a laugh on Satudays as opposed to see children tortured after failing a complicated puzzle.
