Yes, this is blog post number 1000 since transferring onto Blogger just over a year ago and things today so far have been interesting.
Up pretty early as always and after hearing Mo Dutta on Radio 2 utter the much overused phrase "welcome to the weekend" I switched over to Radio 1 where Nihal was looking after things and wanting to know from listeners about the best adrenalin rush.
He also spoke about the "perils" of Facebook and recieving countless e-mails informing him of friend requests and wall posts. One answer to that solution, go into your profile control and choose the option that stops e-mails being sent!
I also had a chat to co-head of programming Sam on MSN this morning and I'm really pleased that she's feeling the same way that I am about looking forward and not backwards as far as next year goes. She's not an easy one to impress and doesn't take kindly to backside licking neither. But overall she's very confident and I'm really looking forward to hearing how she's getting on when I'm next back in London.
Looks like the Rasmus Faber track is doing the job!
It hasn't all been good however as I've just wasted £13 on a line in cable that won't work properly due to a two headed jack that refuses to plug in. However I've taken the advice of Ant's "Captain Justice" character from SM:tv and have kept the reciept safe so I'll be returning that lazy lead, later on this afternoon.
On a lighter note, KMFM Rocks! was brilliant last night with tracks such as Alice Cooper's "Fire", late 80s rockers Skid Row with "Youth Gone Wild" and Feeder's "Just A Day".
There were a few indie rock tracks such as "Do You Want To" by Franz Ferdinand which watered things down a bit, but even if you got a track like that, you could guarantee that the next one would be brilliant.
Richard's definitely nailed it perfectly covering the whole spectrum of rock music and
I'd go as far by saying that this is currently one of, if not the best music show on UK radio.
I also need to make sure I'm about at 6pm as I really want to get round to hearing the legend that is John Leech on BBC Essex.
A long standing presenter on Essex Radio/Essex FM and even a stint on Invicta FM in the early 00s, this guy really knows his stuff about soul and dance music and has many gongs to prove it!
And after looking through his old profile from the Essex FM website it just goes to show that he had some great influences including Scott Shannon over in the US,
the late Roger Scott from Capital Radio and later Radio 1, and the equally influential
John Peel.
That shows how the greats can really give wannabes the right ideas.

For some reason, I listened to the BBC Asian Network on the way home from work yesterday afternoon, and I must be honest - it was one of the worst hours of radio I've ever heard! Just cringeworthy, desperate content, full of factual errors, annoying presenters, and Apache Indian reporting from the cricket at Trent Bridge (I'm not making that up!)

Never! I've heard a few things about the Asian Network and whilst they have (or had) some great broadcasters such as Nihal it's fair to say that there are others who aren't as cut up in broadcasting
