The myth, no; fact that people responsible for great radio know a thing or two about jingles can be proved here with a version of cut 2 from JAM's "The Beat 92" as done for KMFM's programme director Steve Fountain when he was at Great Yorkshire Gold several years ago!
And I can honestly say that despite the flaky tape audio quality it's actually better than my version of the cut I've been using although it's mainly because he used a
richer sounding 7 voice vocal group complete with Jim Clancy supplying the bass vocals!
I'm sure I've got their mid 90s jingle package somewhere which consisted entirely of resung Radio 1 jingles from the 70s including the traffic jingle based on the Beatles "Drive My Car" "Beep Beep, Beep Beep, Yeah!"
I reckon that by the end of the summer my head's going to explode with all this random nonsense coming from nowhere but I should bear in mind that it's been inside there for a very long time and I haven't had the guts to open it.
