On a dark day for phone in competitions I thought it would be ideal to have some escapism and I've managed to dig out Joe Haddow and Chris Jones on their final show for Smoke Radio where they decided to do for Battleships what DLT did for snooker and darts, and make it radio friendly with sound effects where appropriate!
I can remember being in the studio when this was being done unable to stop laughing but listening back to it really proves that when done right, competitions on the radio can sound great.
This was such a great way to say goodbye to some of the established figures of
Smoke Radio and we decided to finish with one of one of ex-student
Alistair Ryder's "Crap Music" IDs from the early days of the station.
Yes, we really were infants back then.
The alumni won't be gone for long as I've still got some rather naughty prize descriptions as recorded by Dan P, which I will definitely use when I get back in September.
Actually now that my interview at Next wasn't so succesfull I may be making more the one visit tomorrow. I've just got to do my very hardest not to forget why I enjoy this little thing called "radio".
