"Terrrific!"

Yet another of the Comedians has passed on, Mike Reid better known as the man who played the ever-returning car salesman Frank Butcher in Eastenders.
Although the man will have a place in my memory for two things, being the host of the popular children's physical/general knowledge game "Runarrouund!" or his very witty take on "The Ugly Duckling".

I can remember when Mike Read the disk jockey appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks in early 2003 where Mark Lamarr made a few predictable jokes about the confusion resulting in the wannabe impressionist giving his own rendition of the song about the mallard.
This prompted Lamarr to suggest that Mike Reid the actor was in a pub asking people questions about popular music "who ad an hit called turn it in!..."

Overall it's a shame that we had to lose the crafty cockney first, but at least the confusion gave a good reason for gags beyond his stand up routine.
