Avoiding The "Water Cycles"

Today's probably been the first day in over a fortnight when it hasn't rained. Although it hasn't been blazing the overall weather's been pleasant enough for me to have the windows left open.
Hopefully things will stay the same this weekend especially for the Tour De France on Sunday. We've got a few more visitors coming as well, one of mum's friends from Colchester who's bringing her family to stay over.

This week's Grooveline had to be one of the best where Stephen's guest John brought along some cracking tracks such as Chuck Jackson's "All Over The World"; a soulful dance track from 1989 and a superb one from Cheryl Lynn with a bit of help from EWF.
Also featured was the stunning solo track from Phillip Bailey called "Vaya" which will definitely be on the first soul show when I get back in September.
And rather controversially I'm very tempted to check out some of his subsequent gospel material.
The threeplay was the overall highlight, a little know vocalist called Barbara Pennington with some stunning rare groove tunes including "24 Hours A Day" and "On A Crowded Street". Great melodies and a superb vocalist.

In my other radio journey I'm now in mid February where just about every show was a Valentines themed show. The best of all had to be from Phil and Sam's Dinner Party and for me this was their overall highlight from the year, Date Or Mate where Sam had to choose a date from either Nana Charlie, Phil Landers, Stoobie or Kelly.
I just love how both the presenters sound excited as Sam's about to reveal her date which goes to show that if you have the right production, a radio item can sound great even if it is just the Countdown Clock!

I tended to take an alternative route with my show that week with the first record being Incognito with "Who Needs Love", whilst the Shuffle boys went one further with "The Post Valentines Alone Show".
Overall this listening experience really has broadened my musical interests and has given me a few ideas for future record purchases. Once again, there will be no excuse to be bored in the future.
