Swelling Up

As Arnold Schwarznegger once quoted "I'm Not A Pervert!"
After reading a few more past print outs from Media UK and a discussion about Vibe FM's takeover by GWR, a commment about presenter Nikki Elise elaborates on why I love female radio presenters. Not just because they are attractive but also funny and welcoming on air.
I'd imagine that's the exact reason for Martin setting up Radio Babes as anyone with any intelligence will know that they genuinely love talking and showing enthusiasm on air.

Anyone passionate about wanting to get into radio should not just listen to a lot of radio but a lot of great radio and ask themselves why it's so good? And the same for not so great radio asking why it's a load of tosh.

But then reading these discussions has lead to the final straw of working with annoying egotists as I've learnt from personal experience that every company, classroom and even University course will have at least one. Arguing with them will just make things worse but if you either try to talk to them one to one in a friendly manner then they may be put down to size. And if they don't want to co-operate then they won't get very far at all in the long term.

I've been a right bastard myself at times and it saddens me to think that shit people can stop good people doing what they're genuinely good at. A recent example being the
Big L management Vs Opal Bonfante who resigned on air after Chris Vesey, Mike Read etc tried to tinker, sorry, fuck about with the format of her show.

But it's not just radio that has burst boots in their rubbish bins, as there are so many pricks AKA A&R people who just don't have the guts to listen to genuine talent and really sweet music. I can only speak with Jocelyn Brown's "Unreleased" compilation playing as I type this post with gems such as "She'd Call" and "Forever". OK the song titles don't stand out but neither did "Everyday". The melodies are really delightful and whenever I've played something like that to either a classroom assistant or an equally enthusiastic/passionate friend it affects them emotionally.

That's the signifier as to whether a product of any sort works. If it has me in tears then it's done the job, whether it would be a hilarious gag from Richard Herring or Jill Scott's stunning vocals.
Anyone who applies for a treasured position who doesn't have any understanding in their mind shouldn't be doing the job.
