Whilst listening to Jerry Scott on Radio York last night, he mentioned that he was going to get Sooty as a guest on tonight's show who's currently on tour on a summer season across the lovely coastal part of the county. I'll try and avoid going on a tangent about the North Yorkshire coast but it's bloody gorgeous.
Anyway, I asked Ricky how such a thing could work on radio but in MSN talk he just smiled and seemed confident that it would!
On a smilar note I managed to find an old episode from the series, the first one produced by Granada after Thames lost it's franchise and I can say with pride after watching this that Matthew Corbett's a genius.
I fully understand now why he wanted to retire at 50 as he put himself up for so much mess but always managed to cope with it all and spoke to the viewer as if he knew them, with superb music skills to match. This episode is no exception where long time collaborator Connie pays a visit to explain how "the customer is always right".
Notice how Soo isn't in the same scene as Mo from the market!
I'm sure I'm not the only one, but when seeing this first time round in 1993 I was too busy wetting myself (and doing the same now to an extent, when watching this) to understand the messages conveyed and I'm rather gutted we didn't have a VCR at the time, because after enough viewings I would have been able to understand them a bit more.
If I'm being honest this is what should be shown to anyone starting a job in a similar location of any scale as when I was at ASDA there were people there who made even worse mistakes (and probably still do) than the ones shown here, which have involved a lot more dangerous water incidents than that of firing a water pistol in someone's face.
But then again I doubt many of those immature ones who work there or any place similar will be reading this, so I guess it's a case of loving them and leaving them.
Overall don't let any corporate fuckers get in the way as they're not the ones smiling.
It's up to those who don't let their backstabbing and changes for changes sake get in the way and carry on smiling and I mean genuine smiles. I've seen too many fixed grins in such places.
