Well this is bizarre, the new controller of BBC Radio 2 has been announced as
Bob Shennan who I thought was out of the running due to the fact
he hasn't worked in music radio before.
His track record includes 8 years as the controller of BBC 5 Live as well as being involved for the plans for the ill-fated Channel 4 Radio proposal that went kaput last Autumn.
The position also involves the running of BBC 6 Music so it will be interesting to see what will happen in Bob's reign over the next year or so.
Interesting times.
Also, a few days ago it was announced that on the 23rd of March Global will unleash their Heart Attack on the South West and Western parts of the country with long standing names such as Gemini, Lantern FM, Plymouth Sound, Fox FM, 2-Ten FM, Severn Sound and even GWR succombing to the radio grave.
And the good news for radio fans is that I'll be attempting to give tributes in the same way as the East Anglia posts earlier this year with plenty of old jingles.
