I had to post a link to this. I don't normally trawl round through Sci-Fi forums but after spotting this topic on Digital Spy I definitely had to give light to a thread about
Sylvester McCoy's reign as Doctor Who.
As I've mentioned before, I will not have any jokes made about his portrayal, but if people have genuine opinions out of favour towards him then it's up to them.
However, the overall comments are pretty mixed and most of them agree that Bonnie Langford was rubbish and Sophie Aldred was superb as the respective companions.
I know I'm not the only fan of his reign as another Sophie, that being the one from the second year radio is quite a fan of this period, which I found out by accident when we were in a cab en route to Perivale in West London which happen's to be Ace's hometown.
I even talk about the show as if it's real which isn't too good at all.
I agree with one of the comments which I think is one page 3, which suggests that Dominic Glynn's theme to Colin Baker's final series in 1986 was rubbish and Keff McCulloch's was better.
Thankfully Dominic continued to provide incidental music for episodes such as "Survival" which I thought was pretty good, partly because it had electric guitars in it making it sound less dated.
And I appreciated that Dominic's arrangement of the theme brought it back into the traditional key of E-Major whilst McCulloch's took it unexpectedly into A major which I know a lot of fans and even the late Delia Derbyshire who performed the original theme were not impressed with.
It's still one of my favourites however.
I happened to see Sophie C at the Underpants last night and I think I've taken her crown as the worst drunk although in my case it's not just on the radio course, but at University overall.
As mentioned in the last post, it's George W Bush's last day as president (or what's left of it anyway) so I thought it would be more than appropriate to post what has to be
my favourite speech made by the president in his reign, from the 5th of August 2004.
I'm sure you've all heard it before but it has to be one of the funniest and most accurate statements he has ever made.
On that note however, I know this is deviating slightly but I had to post this freudian slip by his dad in 1988 talking about his "close" relationship with President Reagan.
It proves that there are some occasions where rubbers at the end of pencils
just won't work when mistakes are made.
