Now Will They Return Our Paintings?

I'm in the library again having another rummage and I expect to be up here until around 7 when Dancing On Ice starts.

Robbie Vincent was on good form once again with the highlights this week including four back to back tracks from Will Downing that I hadn't heard before, including a superb cover of Gil Scott Heron's "The World Is A Ghetto".
The Sunday Long One was also pretty good as well featuring another track by the Rippingtons with guest performer David Benoit on sax.

On a more serious note, Tony Hart had passed on which is quite a loss, but he wasn't really in good health for a few years up to today. One of if not the best art presenter on television who's creativity knew no bounds for over 40 years and was the man who brought Morph to our television screens.

Neil Buchanan has mentioned before that Tony was a big influence for his
big Art Attacks, as Tony used to do large paintings on Vision On, Take Hart,
and Hart Beat for many years.

One of the most memorable ones wasn't actually by Tony himself but on an edition of Hart Beat in the early 90s the theme of the programme was "Glass" and it showed a man making a giant artwork made out of live glass accompanied by "Bolero" and then Tony mentioned that glass could be very fragile and showed what happened immediatley after it had finished, with everything smashing apart.

Overall, a man who managed to show his various paintings and makes to many generations and never talked down to viewers unlike quite a few other presenters in the same era.

RIP Tony: 1925-2009
