Sole Interpretations

It hasn't really been that eventful so far as the majority of the day has been spent in the library having a rummage.

I stayed there until 3pm where I went back to the flat to listen to PY on Jazz FM with some really good stuff as always including a tune from the first lady of Japanese Jazz, Monday Michiru from her current album "Nexus".

Definitely one to be included as a featured album on my own show later in the year although I've finally found one for January which will be "Coming Back To You" by US singer Melinda Doolittle which is a first for the show as it's from an off-shot from one of Simon Cowell's shows, that being the 2007 series of American Idol.

She's on an independent label now however, so it looks set to be a good career.

There was also the original version of the song sampled on the Sugababes current single "No Can Do" which Peter said that "no one cares about, especially you".
Easy now Peter, the Sugababes aren't that bad, especially if artists such as Don-E want to work with them.

Also included was the enjoyable "Buy 1 Get 2 Free" feature involving a song by a top soul/jazz performer and two covers of their material. One of those featured this week was Nina Simone and a cover of her song "Feelin' Good" by saxophonist Stanley Turrentine with his backing band including McCoy Tyner on piano.

I'd say it's better than the orginal and that rather dodgy cover by Muse a few years ago.

There's also another cover of that song I like by The Quantic Soul Orchestra that was released in 2005 and brings back quite a few memories of Sandra C's "Citizen's Soul Show" on Solar Radio that used to go out on Sunday breakfast.
It was good fun having a chat to Sandra (and sometimes her husband Mr C) on the phone during the show and talking about the gigs we'd been to respectively.

It would be good if the show was still going as it would be the perfect Sunday lie-in along with Robbie Vincent on Jazz FM immediatley after.

I've recently downloaded a rather naughty application which allows you to record streaming Real Player files called "Realtime Converter".
Unfortunately, after converting, the file plays with a 100% pitch increase which considering my radio feature from last semester is a bit extreme compared to having it at 30%.

This means I have to slow it down in Adobe Audition but the process doesn't take too long, provided you know your pitch percentages.

I may as well get a bit of grub down me before tonight and I may need to head over to buy some booze as well.
Hopefully I won't have a struggle getting back to Harrow from Tufnell Park.
