Wrong Side Of The Bed?

I've had a bloody awful night. My right eye still hurts a tiny bit and at around 1am I was shouting for some idiot to stop banging on my bedroom door.

I barely got any sleep at all as you can tell by the time that I've posted this blog.

Could the fact I'm writing in shorter sentences mean that things maybe going crazy again?

Anyway, as expected quite a few changes are being made to the Smoke daytime schedule this week with Alice and Nicola on "Here Come The Girls" and Matt and Rob moving to Tuesdays starting from today which should be interesting.

That doesn't mean that we'll see an end to features such as "Diva Fever" and "Repping Your End" as they'll be remaining and I hope to get on the latter to give Canterbury a bit of light.

I would mention East London but Nicola more or less has that covered as she's repped Ilford on the show before.

Lottie asked me not long ago if I wanted to have a go at daytime although I politely said no, partly because I wouldn't want to present a show with two tunes by Ne'Yo played in 10 minutes.

On a similar note, during yesterdays pub golf I proposed a motion for Thursday's meeting which I won't give the exact details of, but just about everyone agreed with me on and
I may actually make it serious because it's been winding me up for too long now.

I know it's rather upsetting but both Chilvers and Stevie McIntosh mentioned that they had more or less disregarded the station but I really don't blame them at all.

Especially when it comes to the station boycotting what was to be one of the biggest events on campus this year, but the good news is that Phil Harris is in the planning stages of yet another "Big Phat Party" at the Undercroft where I hope to be one of those spinning the discs.

I don't mean to point fingers at people but I never realised until Pippa's do last Saturday that neither her or Andy B were invited to the awards towards the end of the 2006/2007 academic year.

Although judging by the bitching and backstabbing that went on at the night itself,
I reckon it's just as well.

Then again, the video of the editors retiring and Ross T being pushed out of the way still makes me laugh and got the biggest cheer of the night. In fact more so than when I got my outstanding contribution award.
To be honest though, the video is rather sad as well as it seemed like the end of an era to an extent.

I know this may sound a bit arrogant but if I didn't get that prize, then the night would have been rubbish. In fact it may be one of the things I take back to Harrow the next time I pop back to Canterbury.

Although we have silly categories at the awards each year, I doubt that we'll be having a "Most Expensive Mistake" prize this year because I don't think anyone's commited
as big a sin as Alex Hill in Freshers Week 2007 after leaving a camera at Kebabland.

And I thought my Freshers Week that year was bad, but thankfully I didn't have to hand in one and a half grand to Hassan, or risk failing my degree as a consequence.

He's going to have to live with that in my eyes despite being a really nice fella.

I must be one of the only people on a Media Course at Westminster never to have had a problem with the equipment store owner.

Anyway, later on I'm meeting up with Joey in Central London and have been invited to his "Big Sur" night at Chalk Farm on Thursday.

That happens to be the same night as the Smoke Radio "Geek Chic" night but I can probably manage both.

Oddly enough one of the bands performing at Big Sur is "Rosie And The Goldbug" who we've (well, not me personally) been lucky enough to interview on the station so I may check them out.

As I type I'm having a listen to the said Baby D record from last night and I really love the crowd noises halfway through it as the horns are very subtle and innoffensive.

I remember the song being played on Radio 1's 10 Hour Takeover in May 2007 and presenter Edith Bowman wished that there was one in the studio.
Probably not the most ideal scenario but it was cute to hear her
impersonating the noise of one.

Anyway, best of luck to those starting in their new timeslots and today should be good fun.

Especially as Obama makes his entrance into the White House.
