Whilst I've been searching and surfing in the library, I've come across a series of Youtube videos from a guy called Paul Wells who has several videos of him giving very good interpretations of TV themes on his piano.
Some my favourites included this very good take on the original theme to the Generation Game blending in elements of the 70s theme and the early 90s revival.
There's also a really good take on the Grandstand theme but without the timpani "boing!" in the first verse, The South Bank Show, Sportsnight, and possibly my overall favourite, Have I Got News For You, mainly because of how the chords have been changed slightly in the second part of the theme although the final part it a bit sinister.
However it's even got the approval of Big George himself which is definitely an achievement considering that it must be a rather tough tune to play.
In addition to the above are a few medleys of theme tunes from CBeebies such as Balamory, The Tweenies, In The Night Garden and so on.
And even more impressive is Paul's 8 year old son having a go at the theme to Doctor Who which is pretty good.
As well as theme tunes Paul has also done interpetations of actual songs such as
"Robin The Hooded Man" by Clannad which actually was a theme tune come to think of it
to HTV's "Robin Of Sherwood.
There's also a version of "When The World Is Running Down" by the Police
which got turned into a dance track back in 2000.
It makes me question why I gave up learning the piano but that was probably for the best.
