The Ice Clown Departs

So it looks as if the ice will be a laugh free zone from next week onwards as Todd Carty has been booted off.
To be there it was probably the right time to go as there wasn't really anything more he could do in terms of routines and tonight was a clever twist, consisting of a story set to the song of his programme.

The music overall was pretty good with Ellery's programme done to "Boogie Wonderland", Zoe Stunner's was to "Lovin' You" by Minnie Ripperton, and Ray Quinn's made use of "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai accompanied by Ray's moves which didn't look too dissimilar to Napoleon Dynamite.

Todd's routine was done to Nat King Cole's "Smile" and as mentioned above it made clever use of the song and used his acting skills to his advantage. In a humorous manner of course.

Phillip's analogies this week weren't so good as they were rather obvious with examples such as "If Todd's performance made you 'Smile'", and "If you want to see Ellery 'Boogie'".

It was Ellery who was saved by the judges in the skate off against Todd with all the judges apart from Ruthie Henshaw choosing him to go through to next week.

On that subject next week's show will be 80s themed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Torvil and Dean getting the gold and who knows, maybe Phillip take Amy Winehouse's advice and dye his hair back to black.

I've also managed to finish the DVD of series 2 of Extras where the special features are pretty good with the highlight involving Ashley Jensen struggling over a line and making it sound garbled on every re-take.

I've actually developed a bit of a crush on her, mainly because in that scene she wears a wolly t-shirt or what looks like one anyway.
That's the sort of clothing I like to see on good looking girls as it's cosy and comforting, but not revealing.

But like I said in an earlier post, I barely have any interest in specific clothes anyway.

There are a couple of easter eggs on the DVD, one of them being Stephen and "Barry" doing a dance routine to Five Star's "System Addict" and the other being the uncut version of the Newsnight Review team reviewing Andy's sitcom with Ricky actually in the studio with them and telling them to "fuck off".

Personally I'd see that as a statement to the likes of Humpty Lawson, Germaine Greer and all the smart arses that make poncey comments the arts and television.

I imagine Ricky included that as Ian Hislop once slated his "Animals" stage show on Newsnight Review in 2003 which resulted in Ricky on stage calling him
an "ugly pug faced c***".

At the end of the main feature, there's a short promotional film about film piracy that isn't the "You Wouldn't Steal A Car" one this time round.

However it states that one of the reasons against pirate DVDs is that it can result in terrorism.

I'm not surprised, considering the type of people who sell counterfeit DVDs in London and especially in Harrow Town Centre, and I can't believe they even bother to sink so low.

The fact that they are sold from CD wallets and without packaging is even more suspicious and I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

Anyway bitterness aside, the plan for tomorrow is to do some more shopping at Sainsburys as I fancy another chicken stew after the supreme powder worked well last time round, watch the DVD of the Extras Christmas Special from 2007, and plan my DJ set for tomorrow's Big Phat Party.

And possibly add a bit more to my lit review.
