Keeping With The Rhythm

Pretty busy morning in the radio rooms where both groups were working on getting their assessed shows sorted. Taking to the air today was the Rhythm and Blues show presented by Dan with the highlight once again being the live band who this week were "Bluesmix" who gave some sterling performances of their material.

It all flowed pretty well although unfortunately there was a music sweeper played in the show which included snippets from two Jackie Wilson songs.

Them being "Higher And Higher", and "The Sweetest Feeling" which has been used to death in adverts for beds recently.

It's more or less an unwritten rule not to include two tracks from the same artist in a music sweeper and I imagine whoever's marking the programme will have picked up on that.

It was enjoyable overall and hopefully I'll be doing the same tomorrow for when the other group do their "Club Classics" esque show with Joe Lester at the helm.

However I'll be making another visit up to the radio rooms again this evening as I want to record a programme on a community station in the West Midlands where there's an interview with local composer and jingle producer Muff Murfin, who produced several super jingle packages for stations such as Radio Wyvern, Red Dragon FM, and Capital Radio as well as the original theme to ITV's Gladiators.

However that won't get in the way of watching the second semi-final of The Krypton Factor so here's hoping no one will steal my computer terminal while I'm gone.

On a slightly lower note Wendy Richard has died aged 65 after a long battle with cancer. As well as her long standing stint on Eastenders, she also used to make occasional appearances on Radio 4's Just A Minute where she would often launch into rants about her bugbears which provided amusement.

I was going to do a bit of shopping but as I'm still a bit tight for cash, not helped by not receiving a bursary, I'll save my spending for tomorrow as there's still enough in the fridge and my cupboard to last one more day.

In the meantime, it's a good time for more rummaging so you can probably guess that then next post will take about a day to read.
