I stumbled across this article from the Guardian published last year just before the Summer festivals were televised, but I reckon it says a thing or two about the so called talent they hire to present on television and radio.
Appropriately titled "Taking The Mic" it gives an account of many presenters of "yoof show" or so to say the majority of them with the possible exceptions of George Lamb and Alex Zane are a waste of space on the airwaves.
Those included are Fearne Cotton who has a dreadful on and off habit of "presenting" Radio 1's Chart Show, Vernon Kay who shouts too much for my liking, both the T4 presenters Steve and Miquita who have a dreadful habit of unleashing endless in-jokes onto a viewing nation, and Nick Bloody Grimshaw who's probably one of the worst offenders.
The comments made about "dancing on the graves of Phillip Schofield and Sarah Greene"
are spot on despite the fact that they're still alive, and even more accurate is the comment about all of them trying to be Simon Amstell and falling on their backsides.
The man himself appears to agree as on one of his first editions of Buzzcocks he made the much quoted joke on the blog that went "Radio 1's DJs include Fearne Cotton,
Colin Murray, Edith Bowman, Reggie Yates, and Vernon Kay. It's not good enough is it?"
That was a joke that finally said what I'd been thinking for so long, only I was too thick to put it into words.
Fearne Cotton's probably one I feel sorry for as she was brilliant on The Saturday Show and Smile on CBBC without being patronising, until she decided that she wanted to be cool and "geezerish" (if there's such a word) and go on about loving Led Zeppelin and The Who.
The move into radio was a such a mistake and proof that just because you're a sex bomb on screen doesn't mean that you'll be good on the knobs and knockers of a radio studio. Excuse me!
Then again I've heard that with the exception of the Newsbeat staff who were superb on my visit, most of the knobs and knockers at Radio 1 actually work behind the scenes.
And also agree with the point made on ridiculous haircuts.
Blur put it in two ways, either "This Is A Low" or "Modern Life Is Rubbish".
But then again there's always the off switch.
Unless you're at work listening against your will which is the main reason I keep making self death threats on my blog and Twitter statuses, as that's not how I want to be living after University.
For now though, I'll just keep the Nat King Cole record in mind with the possible exception of Love and Romance, as crushes don't really count in that area.
As for tonight I plain to make a delicous stewed steak hotpot (if there is such a thing) either with bows or really expensive fusilli pasta.
After that I may finally get round to viewing my DVDs of Ricky Gervais's Extras starting off midway through series 1 as that's when it started to get funny.
I reckon I'm the exact equivalent of the dullard who appears in the Samuel L Jackson episode and offers Andy tickets to see "We Will Rock You".
Judging by that and some of the jokes in the Office, I think it can be confirmed that Ricky's not a fan of Ben Elton.
